To open an EXE file on your Steam Deck, first, make sure you're in Desktop Mode. Then, you can either use the Discover Software Center to install Wine or a similar compatibility layer, which allows Windows applications to run on Linux-based systems like SteamOS. Once Wine is installed, right-click your EXE file and select 'Open With Wine Windows Program Loader'. Easy peasy!

Just dual boot Windows on it, trust me. Running EXE files then becomes a piece of cake.

Honestly, the best approach is to stick to games available on Steam or verified for Steam Deck. Avoid the hassle of EXE files altogether.

If you're a Steam player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is the official Steam gift card, which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!

The brands referenced on this page are not sponsors of the rewards or otherwise affiliated with this company.
