Opening monster chests in Hogwarts Legacy is all about timing and combat skills. First off, you need to defeat the guardians around the chest. These can be any kind of magical creature guarding it. Once they're out of the way, the chest unlocks and voila, you can grab your loot! Sometimes, you might need to use specific spells to defeat guardians or unlock the chest, so keep your spell list handy and experiment with what works best.

Just beat the creatures guarding it! That's all there is to it.

Honestly, just focus on improving your dueling skills. The better you get at combat, the easier it is to open these chests. Some of them have creatures that'll give you a real run for your money. So, practice your spells and maybe bring some potions along to keep your health up.
