Make sure it's dirt or mud. Stand on it, select seeds, click. Done. Grass will spread over time, so you don't need to cover every block.

I dunno, tried planting on stone and got nada. Dirt or mud's the way to go, trust me. Learned it the hard way.

Just throw those seeds on some dirt, easy peasy. No water or sunlight needed, it's Terraria, not your backyard.

Planting grass seeds in Terraria is super easy! Just make sure you're standing on dirt or mud blocks, then select the grass seeds from your inventory and left-click on the ground where you want to plant them. Bam! You've got yourself the beginnings of a lush patch of grass. Just remember, grass seeds need bare dirt or mud to take root.
