Unfortunately, Super Mario Maker for the 3DS doesn't support a proper two-player mode. Bummer, right? You can share levels and play them sequentially with a friend, though.

Hot take: There is no two-player mode for Super Mario Maker on 3DS. You gotta stick to sharing levels and competing for high scores!

The 3DS version doesn't have a real multiplayer mode. You can exchange levels via StreetPass and take turns playing on the same device.
