Managed to play against my friend a few times using the hit-the-battle-button-at-the-same-time trick. It's not perfect, but when it works, it's a blast!
Right now, Marvel Snap doesn't have a direct 'play with friends' mode in the traditional sense. But, no worries! You can kinda get around this by syncing up with your friend and hitting the 'Battle' button at the same time. It鈥檚 a bit of a hit or miss since matchmaking is random, but it's worth a shot if you both are at similar ranks.
