In MLB The Show 23, just head to Diamond Dynasty, go to the Play tab, and select 'Play vs Friends.' Pick your friend from the list, set up your game, and batter up!

You gotta go to Custom Leagues, create a league, invite your friends, and then you can play against them. Simple as that!
