How to Play Basic Pokemon Cards
AssoilzieingThrow·7 months agoSo here's the deal: you don't need to be a rocket scientist to play basic Pokemon cards. Just remember the ABCs - Attack, Bench, and Cards. Keep attacking your opponent's Pokémon, keep your Bench filled with backup Pokémon, and make smart choices with the cards you draw. Oh, and don't forget to yell 'Pikachu, I choose you!' at least once for good luck.

It's simple, really. You just need basic reading skills to understand what each card says. If you can do that, you're halfway there. The rest is just practice!
To start playing with basic Pokémon cards, each player needs a deck of 60 cards, which can include any mix of Pokémon, Trainer, and Energy cards. First, decide who goes first with a coin flip. Each player then draws an opening hand of seven cards and places a Basic Pokémon in the 'active' position (you can't start without one!). Put up to five more Basic Pokémon on your 'Bench' if you have them. From there, take turns drawing a card, playing Pokémon, evolving Pokémon, attaching Energy cards to power your Pokémon's moves, using Trainer cards, and battling. The aim is to knock out your opponent’s Pokémon by dealing damage equal to or exceeding the Pokémon's HP. Win by knocking out enough Pokémon to collect six Prize cards, making your opponent run out of Pokémon in play, or if they can't draw a card at the start of their turn!
