Honestly, it's easy. As long as you both have GTA 5 and are friends on PSN, you're good to go. PS5 to PS4 crossplay was a smart move by Rockstar.

Then, the PS4 player should join a game, and from the PS5, you can join their session through the in-game friends list. You can't. JK, just use the in-game friends list to join their session. Works every time.
