If you’re a die-hard fan, dust off your PS3 or PS4 to play Mortal Kombat 9. As of now, no official backward compatibility with PS5 exists.

I had the same question! Unfortunately, MK9 isn't compatible with PS5. I ended up playing it on my PS3. Fingers crossed for future support on PS5!
