How to play older versions of Terraria on Steam?
CompletingClint·8 months agoPlaying older versions of Terraria on Steam isn't supported directly through the Steam interface, but there's a workaround! You can use Steam’s console to download any version of Terraria if you have the manifest ID for the version you want. You'll need to find a list of manifest IDs for Terraria versions online (try forums or the Terraria subreddit). Then, open the Steam console by typing 'steam://nav/console' in your browser. Once in the console, use the command 'download_depot' followed by the game's app ID, the depot ID, and the manifest ID you found. It's a bit techy, but it works!

Just stick with the latest version, trust me. Older versions are a nostalgia trip for sure, but the latest Terraria has so much more to offer!
My friend and I wanted to play an older Terraria update to relive our college days. It took some digging, but using the Steam console to download a specific version's depot really worked. You have to be a bit of a detective to find the right manifest IDs, but once you do, it's like stepping into a time machine.
