Hot take: You can't. Xbox Live Gold is required for most online games unless they're free-to-play.

I used to think you needed Xbox Live Gold for everything, but nope! Microsoft changed the rules for free-to-play games. Just hop on those.

Get Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, it includes Xbox Live Gold along with a bunch of other perks. Two birds, one stone!

For multiplayer? Free-to-play games are the way to go. No Gold needed. Otherwise, you'll need a subscription.

Some free-to-play games like Fortnite, Apex Legends, and Warframe don't require Xbox Live Gold to play online. Have at it!

If you're a Xbox player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is the official Xbox gift card, which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!

The brands referenced on this page are not sponsors of the rewards or otherwise affiliated with this company.
