Starting off, every player needs a 60-card deck in the Pokemon TCG Sun and Moon series. The main goal is to knock out your opponent's Pokemon by using your own Pokemon's attacks. You'll need Energy cards to power these attacks and Trainer cards to give you special bonuses. Each turn, you can play a Basic Pokemon onto your bench, evolve Pokemon, attach an Energy card to one of your Pokemon, play Trainer cards, retreat your Active Pokemon, and use abilities. The game goes on until one player knocks out enough of the opponent's Pokemon to collect six Prize cards, one of the players has no cards left to draw at the beginning of their turn, or if their only Pokemon in play is knocked out.

Honestly, while the mechanics are important, the best way to learn is by playing. I picked up the basics after a few rounds with friends. You start to get a feel for strategy, like when to evolve your Pokemon or which Trainer card to play. The online version is a great place to practice too!

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
