Technically, PS5 games need the DualSense controller, but you can use your PS4 controller for older PS4 games on the PS5. Keep that trusty DualShock 4 around for backward compatibility!

You can't directly play PS5 games with a PS4 controller because the PS5 requires the DualSense for its unique features, but you can use the PS4 controller for PS4 games on the PS5.
