I used to have the same issue, but then I stumbled upon InputMapper. Connect your PS4 controller, let InputMapper do its magic, and you'll be rolling around at the speed of sound in Sonic Generations!

Big fan of Sonic here! I’ve used Steam's Big Picture mode to make this work. Simply connect your PS4 controller to the PC via USB or Bluetooth, then activate Big Picture mode in Steam, and configure your controller from there. Works like a charm!
