I got mine running by creating a dual-boot system with Windows on my Steam Deck. Now I can blast off with Starfield and still enjoy my other Steam games. It took some setup, but oh, the vastness of space was worth it!

Can't play Starfield directly on Steam Deck unless you're using Windows - SteamOS support's not there yet.
