You don't need Hamachi for State of Decay 2. The game already has built-in co-op.
First, make sure everyone has Hamachi installed. Create/join a network with your friends, then run the game and start a multiplayer session. Make sure to use your Hamachi IP when connecting.
My buddies and I use Hamachi all the time! After we formed a network on Hamachi, we set up a multiplayer session in the game using the Hamachi IPs. Worked like a charm!
