Honestly, just because you can doesn't mean you should. Chromebooks aren't made for heavy gaming, so even if you get Steam running, expect more 'Steam' coming out of your ears in frustration than anything else.

Playing Steam games on a Chromebook isn't as straightforward as on Windows or Mac, but it's definitely possible! First up, check if your Chromebook supports Linux apps. If it does, you can enable Linux (Beta) in your Chromebook's settings, install the Linux version of Steam, and voil脿! But remember, not all games will work smoothly due to hardware limitations.

I got Steam running on my Chromebook and it's not too shabby for indie games and less demanding titles. Just enable Linux, install Steam, and adjust your expectations. Playing 'Stardew Valley'? Smooth sailing. 'Cyberpunk 2077'? Not so much.

If you're a Steam player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is the official Steam gift card, which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!

The brands referenced on this page are not sponsors of the rewards or otherwise affiliated with this company.
