Super Mario 64 doesn鈥檛 have a built-in two-player mode. Try hacks or mods if you鈥檙e desperate.
While Super Mario 64 doesn't have an official 2-player mode, you can try the fan-made mod 'Super Mario 64 Multiplayer' where you can control both Mario and Luigi on the same screen. It's a bit of a workaround but a lot of fun!
Me and my buddy played by just passing the controller every time we collected a star. Simple, old-school fun!
