How to play with friends on Terraria without Steam
Playing Terraria with friends without Steam is totally doable! You can use software like Hamachi or ZeroTier to create a virtual network that you and your friends can join. This mimics being on the same LAN network, allowing you to play together by simply entering the host's IP address in Terraria. It's a bit techy but works great once you get it set up!

Direct Connect is your friend! One of you needs to host and share their IP address. The others just punch that into the 'Join via IP' section in Terraria. Make sure the host's port is forwarded if you're not using tools like Hamachi.
Gotta say, just buy the game on Steam. It's way easier to connect with friends that way, and you support the devs.
Just use the TerrariaServer.exe file that comes with the game! You can find it in the Terraria installation folder. Run it to set up your own server, then give your pals the IP address. No Steam needed, but make sure your firewall allows Terraria through.
