Straight up, you need an adapter. There's no native support from Xbox One for Xbox 360 controllers.

You can use an Xbox 360 controller on an Xbox One with a special adapter. Plug it in and you're good to go!

I've done it! Got an adapter called Brook Super Converter. Plugged my Xbox 360 controller in, and it worked like a charm on my Xbox One.
