Just go to Settings > Sound > Audio Output and set 'Output to Headphones' to 'Chat Audio.' Now your game chat will take priority!

Forget menus. Hold down the PS button and use the built-in slider to favor game chat over the game sound directly from the Control Center.

Quick fix: Hold the PS button, go to Sound, then adjust the chat/game audio balance slider. Works like a charm!

Honestly, balancing chat and game audio shouldn’t be this hard. Just use the PS button and tweak the slider to get it right.
