You can't directly put a pitcher at DH in MLB The Show 23. It's against the rules of the game, both virtually and IRL.

Want to put a pitcher in the DH spot? Unfortunately, MLB The Show 23 doesn't let you break the rules like that. Try a pinch hitter?

Short answer: You can't. The game follows MLB rules, which exclude pitchers from being used as designated hitters.
