How to Reinstall System Software on PS3

It's easier than you think! Just use a USB stick formatted to FAT32. Download the file from Sony, put it in a folder called 'PS3/UPDATE', boot in Safe Mode, and you're all set.
Grab a USB drive, format it to FAT32, and create a folder path PS3 > UPDATE. Download the PS3 system update from Sony's website and put it in the Update folder. Turn the PS3 on in Safe Mode and choose 'System Update'. Voila!
Just update it via USB. That's how I've always done it without a hitch. Safe Mode is your friend here.
