From your news feed, click the three horizontal lines in the bottom right corner, select 'See More,' then tap on 'Avatars.' Go to 'Edit Avatar' and hit the trash bin icon. Done and dusted.
Just use a regular profile pic! No one really needs an avatar anyway, right?
I've done this before: open the Facebook app, go to your avatar, tap the settings icon, then trash it. Took me like five seconds.
