Honestly, you can't directly remove contacts on Messenger. Best workaround? Block or mute them.
I've done it before. You just tap the person's name in the chat, then go to 'Privacy' and select 'Block'. Works like a charm!
To remove a contact from Messenger, first open the app, tap on 'People' at the bottom, then 'Contacts' at the top.
