Deactivate your Messenger account by going to your Facebook settings > Account Ownership and Control > Deactivation and Deletion. You'll need to deactivate Facebook first, then Messenger!
Uninstall the Messenger app and disable its notifications via your phone's app settings. Done!
I've done this myself! Simply uninstall the Messenger app and then go to your Facebook settings to ensure it’s turned off. Easy peasy!
