Instead of removing tags, just adjust your privacy settings so tagged photos don't show up on your timeline. Problem solved!
Easy peasy! Just go to the photo, click on the three dots in the top right corner, select 'Remove tag,' and voila!
Open the tagged photo, click on 'Options' (bottom right), and choose 'Remove tag.' Bye-bye, tag!
