First, try the good ol' reboot by holding down the power button until you hear three beeps. If that doesn't work, you might need to reflow the solder on the motherboard using a heat gun. Be careful, though—this isn't for the faint of heart!

In my experience, reapplying thermal paste and ensuring proper ventilation can sometimes resolve YLOD issues. I managed to fix my PS3 this way and it lasted for another year!

Your best bet might be to take it to a professional repair shop. The Yellow Light of Death is often caused by hardware failure, and unless you're a tech wizard, you might do more harm than good by trying to fix it yourself.

Honestly, it's time to upgrade to a PS4 or PS5. Trying to fix YLOD on a PS3 is a hassle, and newer consoles offer so much more!

If you're a PlayStation player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is the official PlayStation gift card, which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you’re wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
