Just delete the game’s save data in System Settings under Data Management. Easy peasy, but remember, there’s no going back!

Been there, done that! Head to System Settings, locate Data Management, and delete the save data for Super Mario Maker 2. I started from scratch and it felt like playing a whole new game!

To reset the story mode in Super Mario Maker 2, you have to delete the save data for the game from your Nintendo Switch. Go to System Settings > Data Management > Delete Save Data and select Super Mario Maker 2. Make sure you really want to reset because this will delete your progress permanently!
