Easy peasy! Just hold the Xbox button on the controller for around 6 seconds until it turns off, then press it again to turn it back on.

Pull out the batteries, wait a few seconds, and pop 'em back in. Works like a charm.

I've done this more times than I can count: hold the Xbox button for 10 seconds until it powers off, then turn it back on!

You can restart it by holding the Xbox button for 10 seconds, or just removing and reinserting the batteries. Either works fine.
