How to Roll in Super Mario 64?
To roll in Super Mario 64, press and hold the Z button (or L button on the Switch) while moving the control stick in the direction you want to roll. It's a handy move for dodging pesky enemies!

For a slick move in Super Mario 64, hold down the Z button and run. Rolling is for real-life plumbers, not Mario!
Just press Z while running, and Mario will dive forward. No fancy rolling, but it's just as effective!
You can't really 'roll' in Super Mario 64, but you can do a dive by pressing B while running. It looks almost as cool!
