How to Save a Chat in WhatsApp
You can save a chat by either exporting it or using a chat backup! To export, open the chat, tap the three dots, choose 'More', and then 'Export chat'. Voila, your chat is saved as a text file!

I've always backed up my chats to Google Drive or iCloud. Just head to Settings, then Chats, then Chat backup. Saved me a few times!
