How to Sculpt a Funko Pop
CarryingTree·8 months agoSculpting a Funko Pop from scratch requires a bit of artistic flair and patience, but it's totally doable! Start by deciding which character you want to create. Then, gather your materials - polymer clay is a great choice for beginners. Sketch a basic outline of your Pop to guide your sculpting. Remember, Funko Pops have oversized heads and smaller bodies. Start with the head, creating the basic shape before adding details like eyes and hair. Bake the head according to the clay instructions, and then move onto sculpting the body. Once everything's baked and cooled, you can paint your Pop with acrylics. Give it a couple of coats of clear varnish to protect your masterpiece. Voilà!

Honestly, unless you're really into DIY, it's probably easier to just buy the Funko Pop you want. Sculpting one yourself is cool and all, but it takes a bunch of time and effort. Plus, you gotta have at least some art skills.
I tried sculpting my own Funko Pop once, and let me tell you, painting those tiny details was the hardest part! Make sure you have some fine brushes. Also, look at a lot of reference images of the character you're making. It really helps to get the proportions right.
