How to see recently followed users on Instagram
You can't directly see your own recent follows, but you can download your data from Instagram Settings. Bit of a hassle, but it works!

Just go to the profile of the person you're curious about, tap 'Following,' and it shows the list in order of most recent follows first!
From your profile, hit 'Following,' then sort by 'Date Followed' to see your most recent follows at the top. Easy peasy!
Instagram doesn't show recently followed users in the app. Bummer.
