You can actually sell axes in Lumber Tycoon 2 by taking them to the Wood R Us store. Just drop the axe in the box where you normally buy items, and it will get scanned and sold pretty quickly!

From my own experience, you just need to go to the Wood R Us store, drop your axe in the same spot as where you'd buy items, and voila, it's sold!
