Honestly, if you can't figure out how to send a photo on Instagram, maybe the internet isn't for you.
Easy peasy! Just open the Instagram app, click the paper plane icon in the top right to go to Direct Messages. Then, tap the camera icon or the image icon to take a new photo or choose one from your gallery. Hit send and you're good to go!
From experience, the quickest way is the in-app camera! It uploads faster and you can add fun filters before sending.
