Setting a home in Terraria is pretty simple! First, you need to build a house with a door, a table, a chair, and proper lighting - torches will do the trick. Make sure the walls are fully closed in, including the background walls you need to craft and place yourself. Then, just wait for an NPC (Non-Player Character) to move in, and voila! You've set your home. You can also assign different homes to different NPCs by opening your inventory, clicking the housing icon, and then assigning them.

Took me a sec to figure this out, but yeah, just slap together a house with the basics - door, table, chair, light, and don't forget those background walls! NPCs moving in is your sign that you've done it right. Easy peasy.

Honestly, just build something that looks like a house and plop some furniture in there. If NPCs start showing up, you're golden.
