Just turn on your Xbox Series S, press the sync button on the console, then press the sync button on each controller. Don't overcomplicate it.

Personal experience here: power up your Xbox Series S, hit the sync button on the console, and then the sync button on each controller. I've set up controllers this way for all our gaming nights, and it works like a charm!
