How to Setup Controller on Steam
AlteringBeryl·7 months agoSetting up a controller on Steam is pretty easy and makes your gaming sessions a lot more fun. First, plug in your controller to your PC via USB or connect it via Bluetooth. Next, fire up Steam, click on the 'Big Picture Mode' button at the top-right (looks like a square with two arrows), and go to ‘Settings’ > ‘Controller Settings’. Here, you’ll see options to configure your controller, whether it’s a Steam controller, Xbox, PlayStation, or a generic one. Make sure to check the box that corresponds to your controller type. Steam will then automatically detect and configure your controller. Happy gaming!

If you're trying to connect a specific controller type, like PS5 or Xbox, you might need to enable support for it in the 'Controller Settings' menu in Steam. Each controller has its quirks, so don't be shy to google your controller type + Steam if you run into trouble. Steam's pretty good at explaining what to do next.
Honestly, just plug it in. Steam pretty much handles the rest. If it doesn't work, check the cable or the batteries.
