From personal experience, you can use the crafting mat to place items and let your friends grab them. Sharing is caring!
All you need to do is equip the item and look at your friend, then a prompt will appear to give the item to them.
Why share when you can hoard? Just kidding, but really, dropping items from your inventory works fine.
To share items, just pull up your inventory, select the thingy, and give it to your friend. Done and done!
