Shield surfing in Tears of the Kingdom is just as epic as it sounds! Just hop on your shield by holding the ZL button to raise it, then jump with X and while in the air, press A. Boom! You're surfing like a pro! Make sure you're on a slope though, or Link will just look kinda silly standing on his shield.
Just press ZL, then X, and finally A while in the air. Easy peasy.
