Just press the Quick Access Menu (usually the '...' button) and navigate to the 'Performance' tab. From there, toggle the 'Performance Overlay' option, and voilà, you'll see your frame rate!

Hit the '...' button on your Steam Deck, go to 'Performance' settings, and turn on 'Performance Overlay'. Boom, FPS counter activated!

Honestly, who needs a frame rate counter when you can just feel the smoothness? But if you must, use the '...' button > Performance > Performance Overlay.
