Hold the power button on the console itself for around 7 seconds until you hear a beep, then let go. It'll power down safely.

If you're in a hurry, you can always just unplug it... though that's not really recommended!

To turn off your PS4, just press and hold the PS button on your controller, navigate to 'Power', and select 'Turn Off PS4'. Easy peasy!
