Simply open the Facebook app, go to settings, then security, and find where you're logged in. Tap on Messenger and sign out from there!
Speaking from experience, go into the Facebook app, tap on the three-line menu, scroll down to 'Settings & Privacy', then 'Settings', 'Security and Login', and under 'Where You're Logged In', tap the Messenger session and log out. Done and done!
