How to Skip a Level in Super Mario Maker
You can't skip a level in Super Mario Maker without losing a life, but you can exit to the Course World menu and pick another level to play. If you're playing Endless Mode, press the + button and select 'Skip'. Then you'll lose a life but move to the next level.

In Endless Mode, hit + and select 'Skip'. You'll lose a life but move on to the next level. In Course World, just exit and pick another level.
No official skip button in Course World, but you can just press +, then hit 'Exit' and choose a different level.
Just lose your lives and get a game over! Then start a new run. Easy peasy.
