You can't directly select chapters in Mortal Kombat 9's Story Mode. You gotta play through the story linearly, but you can replay specific fights in the Chapter Menu once you've completed the story!

From my experience, you have to finish the story mode first. After that, you can go back and select chapters or fights you want to replay.

Unfortunately, there's no chapter select option until you finish the story mode. Just power through, then you can replay your favorite parts!
