I've done it! Just sit tight in that hidden room in Snowdin, applaud Glyde twice, and then wait without acting. He'll get bored and you can spare him!

To spare Glyde, you need to encounter him first! This usually happens after you've hung around in the room before the boss fight for a bit. Then, you have to applaud him twice, then do nothing for two turns. After that, you can spare him!
