Just look at the follower to following ratio. If it's really off (like 1000 following, 50 followers), they're probably fake.
Been there! I usually check for inconsistencies in their posts, like different photo qualities and styles. Also, Google their profile picture; you might find it's from a stock photo site!
If they DMed you about a giveaway or to follow some sketchy link, it's fake. Trust me.
