First up, the easiest way to spot a fake is the card texture and color. Real Pokemon cards have a distinct texture and vibrant colors, while fakes often feel too smooth or glossy and the colors can look washed out. Also, don’t forget to check the card’s edges; real cards have a clear, crisp border. Lastly, official cards have a little black layer inside the cardstock - you can see this if you look at the side of a card. If it's missing, you've got a fake on your hands!

Seriously, just play with real cards. The difference in quality is night and day, and you'll never enjoy the game fully with fakes. I tried playing with some fakes once, and it just felt off. The texture, the way they shuffled... Don't waste your time on fakes.

Just weigh 'em! Real cards got some heft compared to the fakes.

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you’re wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
