One of the easiest ways to spot a fake Wizards of the Coast Pokemon card is by checking the card's texture and color. Real cards have a distinct, smooth feel and vibrant colors, while fakes often feel flimsy and have dull or incorrect colors. Another giveaway is the border; genuine cards have a consistent, clean border.

The most foolproof method? Compare it to a card you know is real. Even the texture of the back can be a dead giveaway. If it looks off, it probably is.

Water test! Real Pokemon cards have a thin layer of black ink between the cardboard layers. When you drop a tiny bit of water on the edge of a real card, it shouldn't seep through immediately. I tried this with a card I was iffy about, and it saved me from a scam!

Look at the card's text for any spelling or grammatical errors. Authentic Wizards of the Coast cards won't have these kinds of mistakes. Also, the holographic pattern on real cards is quite detailed, so if the hologram looks blurry or too generic, it's likely a fake.

Just weigh 'em! Fake cards often weigh less than the real deal. Got a precise scale? Use it!
